The bids up to $45,000 prove a fool and his money are soon parted. The reserve not being met makes me think someone else knows a fool and his money are soon parted.

It's a performance car that hasn't been driven. That should bode well for the engine seals and suspension components I'm sure.

I'd rather have a pretty good conditioned manual E60 M5

Fuck man, I decided against going to McDonalds like 20 minutes ago, but now I'm really regretting that decision.

Low miles=automatic good condition, duh. Who cares if it hasn't been driven since the Bush administration! Engines are like comic books, right?

You just know that EAG is buying this right now. They will buy it for whatever, put in about 40-50 hours of maintenance and potential upgrades and then re-list for 90k. And then some sucker will really buy it.

Look at the mileage though:

6,744

It's a time capsule car

I genuinely hope someone keeps this gem stock. It's perfect just like it is!

I did. I looked at the pics too. Immaculate!

But there comes a point when the the price a car is supposed to demand per mileage and condition don't match up to what the market (me and most other people) is willing to pay. Because of how old it is and how other better or newer cars can be had for the same amount.

This is one very rare case where someone would pay $45k.

I haven't priced these cars out so I have no idea what they normally go for.

There is always a chance that the E39 starts appreciating. Which could make it worth it to buy this car at this price. Everyone is scared of the E60 and F10 because they're so much more complicated and more expensive to maintain.

I wonder what the future holds for E39 M5 prices. While the E46 M3 is super popular as well the E39 M5 seems like it's becoming an even more popular M car from that era. It's got way more torque and you can carry your family around in it. Sometimes I wish I had got the E39 M5 last year instead of my E46 M3.

I;ve seen several articles where Oppos have found decent examples of examples of E39 M5s for 15k and really good ones for $20k - $22k.If I had $20k, this is what I'd get :)

Don't get me wrong - I agree the E39 M5 will appreciate. But I don't see all of them being worth around $40k for another 10 years...

Yeah, the E60s and F10s have a dodgy reputation. But I don't know of any first hand owner experiences. I'm guessing people will warm up to them once the E39s climb in price.

Damn it. Really good one for $22K? I could have got it then!

Also we all should have bought 993s 10 years ago...

The E39 M5 article/s I saw on Oppo were like a month or two ago. I'm sure you can search for them. Also, I'm sure you can still find the car on E-Bay now.

Haha right on about the 933...actually, all old Porsches :P

I would definitely need to sell a car before adding another one. 4 in the garage right now is too many. And 4 car loans are too many, haha. But the E46 is ALMOST paid off. I had bought it cash but later took a loan out against it when I needed cash
